He received his first Emmy for directing the historic Nixon-Khrushchev “Kitchen Debates” from Moscow .
In the decades that followed, he directed notable game shows like Password, the Price is Right and $10,000 Pyramid, as well as producing special events on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve.
In 2015, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Mike a special Emmy for lifetime achievement.
Mike is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, daughter Susan, and son Michael, as well as grandchildren Ian, Olivia and Andrew. He enjoyed New York City, summers at Breezy Point and loved going to the races at Belmont Park. He was proud of his service in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Epiphany Branch of The New York Public Library or Little Sisters of the Poor - Queen of Peace Residence.
