Maurice C. Figueres (89) respected teacher and financial analyst, died on March 13, 2022 at his home in Tudor City in Manhattan. Born in France, Maurice served in the French Foreign Legion before leaving for Canada where he studied at McGill University.
Maurice moved to New York City and completed his bachelor's degree at Hunter College while starting a business career at American Express Company. He later moved to work at Rockefeller Center, Inc. while enrolled at the NYU Brooklyn Polytechnic University, earning a Ph.D. in mathematics.
Maurice had an active lifestyle as a New Yorker. The NYC arts and cultural activities played a prominent role in his life. He frequently accompanied friends to museums, concerts and theaters. He adopted a healthy lifestyle by working out daily and running in five NYC marathons. An avid photographer, Maurice used his camera to record historic events and family pictures for friends.
Maurice is fondly remembered by family and friends, including Vivian and Ernest Lee and their children Peter Lee and Katharine Lee.
