POMMER, Linda Nochlin, 86, died at her home in New York City on October 29, 2017. Widely recognized among the most important and influential art historians of her generation, she studied at Vassar College (BA), Columbia University (MA), and New York University Institute of Fine Arts (Ph.D.) She taught at Vassar, Yale University, City University of New York, and the Institute of Fine Arts where she was the Lila Acheson Wallace Professor Emerita of Modern Art. She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Trotta and Daisy Pommer, and her grandchildren, Julia Trotta and Nick Trotta. Services will be held at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Avenue (at 81st St) Friday,November 3rd at 4pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the ASPCA and the New York City Ballet.
