Janet and I met in NYC at work and remained friends from then on. She was a wonderful person, and we shared many stories about our life. I miss her so much.

Our son, Beaumont, first time met Janet at her home in Feb 2017.  It was such a  sweet memory!

We feel so lucky and are grateful to have a chance to know Janet.  Janet was one of most important mentors and role models for me as an artist.  She was one of the most tender, caring yet determined and creative souls we have met.   R.I.P. Dear Janet.

I met Janet after John passed. What a remarkable woman!  She was so warm, and gracious and creative and I loved to hear how she saw the world around her.  When she started making sculptures from John's ties, and explained how his taking one off at the end of the day was like removing the yoke from a horse at the end of its work, I knew I was dealing with someone whose mind was far more clever than mine.  When I told my daughter the sad news, we ended up reliving the magical evening when Janet gave us a tour of her studio and showed us her treasures. The loving way she handled the "birds in butter dishes", her totes of found items from the streets. her recounting collecting water from various fountains for her water project.  The world is dimmer without her. I hope she is enjoying jazz with John. 

Janet had a calm and kind spirit.   She was blessed with the talent to share her vision through her art. I admired her work and her graceful approach to life. I am grateful to have known her.  My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

What a stroke of luck it was when my boss, artist J. Michael Goodwin, moved his studio to the building that Janet lived in (on Church Street). We met Janet's kitty first: Cissy. Cissy would visit the other floors in the building - a very welcome visitor.  Michael and I made fun toys and things for Cissy to play with when she'd stop by (the "Cat Train" being the best one - complete with a window and curtains). Through the incredibly sociable Miss Cissy, we had the good fortune of meeting and getting to know Janet as well. Janet - was there ever a more graceful or lovely lady? I've loved knowing Janet since then and really appreciated her talent and incredible creative mind. A friend to kitties...became a good friend because of a kitty.  Janet is an angel now. Rest in peace sweet friend.
