KATZ-- Erica Sara. Beloved wife, devoted mother, and adored sister, passed away on June 28, 2023 at the young age of 51 in New York City after having lived fully and bravely with brain cancer since 2014.
Erica was a lifelong New Yorker, having graduated from The Dalton School in 1989. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Duke University, a Juris Doctor Degree from George Washington Law, and became a skilled lawyer. Erica had an enormous capacity for connecting with friends. She was an avid reader, runner, and beach-goer who enjoyed doing almost anything outdoors in the sunshine, especially if it was with her children. Family was the center of her life and her source of joy.
Erica was preceded in death by her mother Laura Kornblau. Erica is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Ian; their children Liza and Ryan; father Irwin Kornblau; brother Mark Kornblau, sister-in-law Marissa Kornblau, nieces Lexie and Maya and nephew Benjamin. She was a daughter, wife, mom, sister, aunt, friend and so much more.
Never deterred by her illness. Erica’s grace, bravery and positivity was an inspiration. Her indomitable spirit will live on in her children and all those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Temple Emanu-El, on Fifth Avenue at 65th Street, in New York City. Erica will be laid to rest at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, New York immediately following the ceremony.
