My heart ❤️ is broken. I  had the pleasure of  meeting Diana in 1978 in a classroom at City College.  I was studying to become a bilingual teacher and she was an amazing professor who inspired me to love and teach our Latino children.  She was a fierce leader and was committed to the work of bilingual education.  

Over the past 40 years, we  stayed connected and I became a member of PREA, SABE, NABE and she introduced me to many powerful leaders and activists in NYC. I will treasure her wisdom, knowledge and passion for linguistic justice and it is a life time gift fir me  to continue passing on. 
We worked together at DOE, Teachers College and Fordham University and she always had nuggets of wisdom and encouragement. She pushed me until I earned my doctorate. The last time I saw Diana, was in 2019 and we hugged and gave each other blessings.  I would always ask for la bendicion. She was always cheerful, vibrant and ready to impart. 

I will miss Diana but she will always live in my heart because she walked through life with me.  May she rest in eternal peace and until we meet again in paradise.

I was thinking of you Diana as I often do. When I looked up your name, your obituary came up. It saddens me to find out you left this world. We knew each other as teenagers. You were my brother’s first love as teenagers. You are so beautiful, intelligent, and a sweetheart. May you Rest in Peace my long last friend.  Though we haven’t seen each other in years, you always remained close to my heart.

You and Jose visited me in  Florida, with  delicious treats. We caught up on our lives. I did not know that our  Florida reunion was the last time we would share time together. Although we planned to see each 
other in  New York, we never did. Now what remain are memories of a friendship that will last a lifetime

Because we had been  friends , connected in many actvist efforts for years before this day, Red and l asked Diana &José to be part of the most wonderful day of my life, our wedding day in June 23, 1993 , in Montauk, N.Y.   Preciosa como siempre. 
 Ahora celebran en el cielo.. y  nuestro amor es eterno.
