Kalim attended St. Catherine of Genoa grade school and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School. He briefly attended college and then stepped out into the working world, working at NYC OTB and Cipriani’s. For the past eight years, he worked as a doorman for Metro Loft, where he was praised as "an outstanding worker who played a crucial role at 180 Water Street".
He attended Seven Day Adventist, Church in Brooklyn NY.
Kalim had a unique and uplifting way of answering the phone . He always smelled good and took great care in his appearance. A dapper young man, Kalim loved sports, especially the NY Knicks, NY Yankees, and NY Giants and Houston Texans . He was a dedicated ESPN viewer and enjoyed wrestling and NASCAR.He became a fan of Bubba Wallace and had a chance to meet a NASCAR truck driver Rajah Curth which he described as amazing. Kalim and his brother, Tyrell would attend the car shows at Jacob Javits Center every year before COVID.
Kalim was an avid comic book collector, a passion he shared with his father on their Saturday shopping trips. He had an extensive Marvel Collection and never missed a Marvel movie. He loved his video games, particularly basketball and baseball games. Additionally, he enjoyed art exhibits and roller coasters, and he cherished spending time with family and friends.
At the Baker cookouts, his brothers would make sure he had his own grill with his own veggie meals and no one else used it. They always looked out for him with his vegetarian diet.
On July 12, 2024, at 10:31 pm, Kalim transitioned beautifully into peace and rest surrounded by his loving family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Charles Q. Baker (stepmother Robin); four brothers Charles Maurice Baker (Rose), Charles Darnell Baker, Charles LaMar Baker and Tyrell Charles Baker, two aunts: Mildred Baker and Valerie Sheafe; an extensive host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins. A visitation for Charles will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Walter B. Cooke Funeral Home, 352 East 87th Street, New York, NY 10128. A graveside service will occur Monday, July 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Rosedale Cemetery, 750 E Linden Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
