Armen J. Mirakian, age 61, passed away on August 13, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife Theodora, his daughter Yasmine, his two adored grandchildren Costa and Khloé, his sister Marta, brother-in- law David and loving cousins.
Armen was born in Philadelphia to John and Mary. He said he had his mother’s faith and his father’s feistiness. Armen was involved in many activities in his community, school, and the Armenian Church. He was a church school graduate (12 years perfect attendance), altar server, active in the ACYOA, Ararat Boy Scout Troop, and the Holy Trinity Basketball Team. He loved his many years at Camp Nubar as a camper, counselor and head counselor, and where he made cherished lifelong friends.
He was a graduate of Temple University. He relocated to NYC in 1985. Shortly after he met Theodora. They shared a wonderful life together, enjoying their time with family and friends that became family. Armen enjoyed playing guitar and singing, imparting his love of music on everyone around. He delighted in entertaining all with parodies of popular songs that he rewrote with “Armenian-themed” lyrics. He made us laugh!
Armen was the best of the best, always looking to help, support, and encourage. He was able to find the good in people and chose to focus on the positive. Armen had great faith and often said that he was ready for whatever came next and that he wasn't afraid. He was always ready with a joke to keep everyone laughing. He touched so many people’s lives and the space left in our hearts from his passing is a chasm. May his memory be eternal.
