Anne Marie McManus

Anne Marie McManus (Annie) was a loving, talented and accomplished individual. Annie was born and raised in Far Rockaway where she attended St. Mary Star of the Sea Grammar School and the Academy of St. Joseph, a Catholic boarding school in Brentwood L.I. Annie graduated from Hunter College, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Art and Education. After serving many years as Assistant Dean of Admissions at New York Law School, Annie returned to school to pursue her passion for cooking and baking. Annie grew up in the kitchen at the Trouville, the McManus family restaurant and bar, working along-side her mother, Jean. She was always so very proud that she could bake her grandmother’s famous apple pie. It is not surprising that the kitchen is ultimately where Annie found her artistic and creative niche. Annie received a degree in Culinary Arts from New York City Technical College in 1987. As part of her technical training, Annie worked at Cipriani in Rome, Italy and Le Florida in Auch, France. Annie went on to become a celebrated pastry chef and was well sought after by the restaurant giants in Manhattan including the Rainbow Room, Tattou, the Pierre and Stanhope Hotels and finally Maloney and Porcelli, where she retired in 2005.

Annie was a genuinely kind person, who cared deeply about all people. She was a woman of great faith and a lover of all nations, races and religions. She was an avid reader, loved NYC, movies and the theatre and travelled extensively. She was keenly intelligent and informed, and passionate about many causes, including her Irish heritage and woman’s rights. Annie was not afraid to speak her mind, but she was also extremely tolerant and forgiving. She had a quick sense of humor and an infectious smile. She was a faithful friend who was always there when needed and she was absolutely devoted to her family.

Annie leaves behind her deeply devoted husband, Kevin Mason, who has been by her side during her long illness, her mother, Jean, brothers Timmy and Bobby and their wives Susan and Beth. Her beloved nieces, Jessica and Noelle and nephews Andrew, Christopher, and Timmy, and their wives and 5 grandnieces and nephews. Her family in England, Mother-in-law Sheila, brothers-in –law John, Michael , and Ian, sisters-in-law, Christine and Anne and eight more nieces and nephews. Annie was beloved by all and will be dearly missed dearly by her friends and family.
