Rickey is a long-time member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church where he was saved at age 13, on May 24, 1970. He enjoyed farming and doing autobody work, Rickey had many other jobs, including in the family businesses of construction and grave digging. No matter what job he had he was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. In what little spare time he had he could be found by the creek sitting under a tree with his pets, Betsy and Butch. In his later years his livestock became more like pets to him than a job and he enjoyed giving them names. Rickey was a proud Papaw and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Eula Rowland, grandchild Allee Marie Breeding, and sister-in-law Janice Rowland.
Rickey is survived by his wife of 45 years Karen Rowland. Son Jeremy (Lindsey) Rowland. Daughter Amanda (Shane) Breeding. Grandchildren Emmarie Rowland, Greyson Rowland, Weston "Boo Boo" Breeding, and Ava "Kanava" Breeding. Siblings Mitchell Rowland, Patricia Rowland, David (Marilyn) Rowland, Bruce (Nan Neal) Rowland, Sharon Rowland Capre, and Karen Rowland Brock. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to the DCI Caryville staff for their wonderful care of Rickey.
The family will receive friends on Thursday June 5, 2025 from 12 until 1 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
