Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cookie Cox Goins, brother Darrell Cox.
He’s survived by wife Joyce (Linda) McKinney Cox, children Penny Cox McDonald, and Ricky Wade Cox, seven grandchildren Ty Earle (wife Sidney), Kateland Earle Hatley (husband Jared), Elijah Cox, Caroline McDonald, Garrett McDonald, Nathan McDonald, Paxton Cox, and one great grandchild Jackson Earle, two brothers, Coy Cox and Don Cox, three sisters, Shirley Poore, Betty Johnston, and Geri Ellison, and several nieces and nephews.
On any given day you could find Clarence working hard, whether that that be on a gas tank in town, around the house, in the garden, or on his tractor. He always enjoyed his time outdoors taking care of his land. In his down time sitting on his front porch, you found him whittling a cedar stick and had one in his pocket for safe keeping. Clarence spent many mornings sharing a cup of coffee with friends. He always had a good story or joke to tell that brought a smile to your face. When he wasn’t working, he loved finding a deal on collectibles and going to oil can shows. He often stopped at local produce stands for fresh fruits and vegetables and picked up extras to give to friends and family. He loved a good pear tree and if you were lucky, he would share his famous turnip casserole with you. Although they may have been short, you could always bet on a phone call from him to check in and make sure you were alright. Something about those calls just put a smile on your face. He loved his family and friends and made sure to let them know. Where Clarence was, you could count on a cup of coffee and a piece of double bubble too. He was loved by many and will be missed by us all. “I have glorified thee on the earth, I have finished the work which though gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was” John 17:4-5
