He was born in Ogdensburg, NY on June 9,1959 and graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1977. Tom married his soulmate Mary Webb LaPierre on May 27, 1995.
Tom retired as a Sergeant after 25 years of dedicated service from the NY State Department of Corrections in 2007. After a short time of rest and relaxation, Tom continued to work hard and decided to blend his desire to work with his love of golf. One of his enjoyable retirement jobs included working at Innisbrook Golf Resort. Anyone who knew Tom knows he never really left law enforcement. He worked 8 years as a security officer at St. Petersburg College and although he had several other jobs, his last and most rewarding job was working security with his Ruth Eckerd Hall Family.
Tom was a member of the Elks Lodge #496 in Watertown for over 30 years until he recently transferred his membership to Elks Lodge #1719 in Tarpon Springs. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Tom loved sports, especially the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys and Syracuse University football and basketball teams. Whenever possible, he and Mary would attend SU games in person including the recent football tournament in Boca Raton. They rarely missed any televised games. Tom enjoyed betting on the horses with his friends and nothing made him happier than to make friends and people around him laugh.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Olga LaPierre, his mother and father-in-law James and Evelyn Webb, and several treasured aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Mary LaPierre, his son Brian LaPierre, his grandson Bobby LaPierre, his sister Susan LaPierre, her fiancé Glen Orr, Bill Crotty, a childhood neighbor who was like a brother to him and many dear friends too numerous to list.
