William Henry Henderson, III, 36 yrs. old, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017. Bill was the beloved son of Helena Naughton Henderson and the late William Henry Henderson, Jr., and he was the beloved brother of Kevin Richard Henderson. Bill was born April 29, 1981, in New Orleans. He attended the Isidore Newman School, the University of Arizona and Tulane University. He managed a sales force at RTI, Inc., having won two national awards in the last year.
Bill had thousands of friends and at least a hundred were his best friends. He was charismatic and engaging, with an incredible sense of humor and a delightful ability to connect with everyone he met. He spread joy wherever he went and lovingly took care of everyone. Bill was a man with many talents. He had a keen interest in history, politics and foreign policy, was an avid reader and a gifted writer. He was a master at solving puzzles and brain teasers that no one else could solve. He was a golfer and fisherman, enjoyed the gym, movies, loved to cook, especially boiling crawfish for friends and perfecting the family Oysters Rockefeller recipe with his mother. His playful side kept his family and friends entertained with his ever present charm, impressions, lines from movies, love of 80s music, and jokes. He never passed up a chance to wear a costume, most notably as Batman and the Easter Bunny. For so many he was their brother – a protector, a confidante, the dispenser of tough love, and the fixer of small and large appliances and of broken hearts. A gentle soul with a big heart, Bill was gregarious and generous.
He leaves behind his mother Helena, his brother Kevin Richard Henderson, of whom he was immensely proud of as a brother, a man and a patriot. Also left are New Orleans cousins Elizabeth Ashley Landry, who was like his sister, Darleen L. Landry, Dr. Glenn R. Landry, his Tighe cousins in New York City, Greenwich, Connecticut, and Palm Beach, and the Hendersons of North Carolina. Bill leaves behind many who love him and will cherish his memory forever, including Anna K. Moss, along with countless respected colleagues, and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. and interment in Metairie Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome.
Of many things that will be remembered, we pray the love Bill gave to everyone will be cherished the most. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill's honor to Tulane University, P.O. Box 61075, New Orleans, LA 70161-9986 or to Audubon Park (Conservancy) 6500 Magazine St., New Orleans, LA 70118.
