Loving wife of the late Curtis R. Dupree for over 65 years, Vena was the mother of Robert Dupree (Karin), Linda Dupree Ehrhardt (Phil), and the late Thomas Dupree. Vena is also survived by three grandchildren, Courtney Carmadelle (Nathan), Philip Ehrhardt, Jr. (Erica), and Robert Dupree, Jr. (Dee), and eight great grandchildren, Sarah Kate, Julia, and Nathalia Carmadelle, Philip III and Lauren Ehrhardt, Lilly, Andy and Charlie Dupree.
Vena was born on June 5, 1922 in Balham England. She was serving in the Women's Royal Naval Service in England during World War II when she met and married Curtis who was serving as a Captain in the United States Army. They returned to New Orleans after the war to live and raise their family. Vena managed Dupree’s Pralines and Gift shop in the French Quarter for many years. She volunteered her time at her church, Parkway Presbyterian and at West Minster Towers in Kenner. Vena was an avid bridge player.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Parkway Presbyterian Church, 6200 Camphor St. in Metairie, on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the Church beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the memorial service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
