Sean Emerson Cox (Sean, Silas, Boo) left our world on January 7, 2022 at the young age of 20. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 11, 2001 to Kevin and Cynthia Cox. Sean was a musician, a tinker, a prince, a fighter, a life-long vegetarian, a fierce friend, a sensitive, seeker of justice, and our champion. He dabbled and enjoyed many things like rapping, house renovation, camping, hiking, cooking, chess, attending festivals, fixing up cars and bikes that never seemed to last too long in his care, and spending time with his family and friends. Most of all this blue-eyed, rare character with a keen mind, a fearless nature, lifted up those he was around with his infectious spirit. He penned many songs of pain and the struggle to rise, working that every day in his own life and buoying up so many around him, using his smile and duct tape to try and fix the world around him.
Sean is survived by his parents, Kevin and Cynthia Cox; his sister, Alyssa Cox; his brother, Bennett Cox; his grandparents, Arleen and Jerry Allen; his aunt and uncle, Todd and Shiela Gunderson; his uncle, Patrick Cox; and his cousins, Micah Baker, Paige Baker, Dylan Baker, Narissa Gunderson, Madilyn Cox, and Charlotte Cox. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Sandra Gunderson, and Donald Cox.
The family would like to give special thanks to the friends, teachers, and Boy Scout leaders that cared for and elevated his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on January 15, 2022 at 12:00PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM.
