Sara Cobos Pitre, affectionately known to many as Sarita or Aunt Sarita, passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 17th, 2024. Sarita was born in New Orleans, LA on December 11th, 1945, to the late Viola Garsaud and Candido Cobos. She attended Alcee Fortier High School and worked for Bell South as a telephone operator for a few years before taking the job of office manager for Exxon Mobil's Risk Management Department. She spent the next 30 years with Exxon before she retired. In retirement, she dedicated her time to her family. When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and needed full time care, Sarita became her primary caretaker. Sarita cared deeply for her family, especially her mother, but also her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Cobos, her brother, Arthur Cobos, and his wife, Luong. She is survived by her brother, Marc Cobos, and his wife, Kathy. Sarita lived a full life, marching and dancing to the beat of her own drum. She enjoyed simple pleasures in life such as a game of Bingo, a good cup of coffee, bargain shopping, donuts, dancing, and singing off key. Above all else, she loved Father God. Sarita spent the last 2 years of her life at Pontchartrain Health Center where she made all the staff fall in love with her. You could not be around Sarita without cracking a smile, and she did not care whether it was with her or at her, as long as she was making the people around her happy. She danced until the very end – not even a broken hip could stop her.
