“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Robert finished the race and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 25th, 2023 at the age of 83.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved unconditionally. He enjoyed playing pool and would regularly challenge people to “come take their thrashing.” He also enjoyed coin collecting, was a motorcycle enthusiast with a passion for vintage Triumphs, BSA and Indian motorcycles. He had a great sense of humor and told the best stories. The thing he loved best, and excelled at, was discussing the bible. He could name chapter and verse with ease.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Barbara L. DeGruy (David) and Katherine L. Womac (Edward), and his son, Robert L. Lambert, Jr (Sandra Cummings); his grandchildren, Robert L. Lambert, Angelle D. Morley (Garrett), Michael Lambert (Cherie), Matthew DeGruy (Rachel), Ryan Womac (Whitney), Victoria W. Quinlivan (Blake); and his 6 great-grandchildren, Westin Morley, Adeline Morley, Colette Morley, Vianne Morley, Robert E. Lambert and Claire Womac.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Evangeline Lambert with whom he enjoyed 57 years of marriage; his parents, Samuel Otto Lambert and Amanda Loree Gipson Lambert; his sister Patricia Laughlin; and 2 grandchildren, Cristin Loree DeGruy and David Casey DeGruy.
The family would like to thank the medical team, doctors and staff, of Slidell Memorial Hospital, longtime primary care physician, Dr. Carlos Miré, Pastor Morris St. Angelo and his wife Pat St. Angelo, as well as Fr. Kurt Young.
Everyone is invited to Robert’s services and visitation at Lake Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30th, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am, followed by a mass with Father Kurt Young as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery #1.
“Well done good and faithful servant, I know it is well with your soul.”
