With great sadness, the family of Robert Gerard Johnston announces that he has lost to his unexpected, short lived diagnosis of abdominal cancer; and has entered into the next phase of his journey as we know it on April 6, 2023. Robert was 70 years old and will be forever grieved by his two steadfast and constant children, Nicolas Robert Johnston, 41, and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Johnston, 29; as well as his adopted son Bradley Wayne Johnston; sisters Judy Corne and Lillian Lea Beard, and brother Edward Johnston, and his son-in-law Cesar Resendiz Bermudez Johnston. Robert is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless amazing friends that he has had the pleasure of knowing in this lifetime. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 22 years, Pamela Ann Wegmann, and his much loved parents Louies M. Johnston and Walter M Johnston, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Robert was born in New Orleans, graduated from East Jefferson High School, and earned a Batchelor of Science degree in Urban Planning with a minor in History from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Robert worked for Jefferson Parish as an Urban Planner in multiple positions for over 35 years. He also did a stint in Ohio working for Butler County Urban Planning department. Before the beginning of the pandemic, Robert was an active member of Lakeview Presbyterian Church. He went peacefully, and without pain, with his beloved daughter next to him, and was surrounded by love from days of constant care in his River Ridge home from his daughter, son, son-in-law, and immediate family and best of friends leading up to the moment of his passing. The family would like to thank the amazing doctors and staff of both Ochsner Kenner Campus and Ochsner Jefferson Campus. Nicolas and Kaitlyn would also like to thank the gracious and loving care received from the St. Joseph Hospice staff while Robert was home and making his transition. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time to view and mourn at Lake Lawn Funeral home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 from 12 PM - 2 PM. After the visitation, he will be laid to rest at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to House of Tulip at houseoftulip.org
