Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joann Purmort Mashaw; parents Eleanor Fauvelle and Howard Mashaw; son Richard J. Mashaw; and brother Pete Mashaw. He is survived by his son Joseph Mashaw and sister Laura Alexander.
Richard was an automobile engineering designer with General Motors for 27 years, with specific respect to SUVs. Additionally, he aided in the design of the Apollo Rockets’ Bottom Booster, which landed on the Moon. Richard was a Catholic, a County Club member, and loved golfing, football, hockey, coaching, art, sketching, photography, and most dearly, his family and friends.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 AM, and interment thereafter at Greenwood Cemetery, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
