Ralph Seelig passed away August 15, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in New Orleans on April 26, 1931, to the late Jacob and Sara Klinger Seelig. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Tanenbaum Seelig for 69 years. Mr. Seelig was a graduate of Isidore Newman School and Tulane University with a B.B.A. degree. With his ROTC training, he entered the army as a 2nd Lieutenant, stationed in Newport News, VA. After completing his military service, he returned to New Orleans to open a furniture store. That evolved into a successful art & craft distributorship which he and Shirley built together and later became a family business with their three kids. He served on several industry boards during his career. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and traveling. Ralph is survived by his three children Linda S. Greenbaum (Mark), Sam and Stanley Seelig, nine grandchildren Rachael (David), Emily, Hana, Jenna and Avery Seelig, Jacob and Brian Greenbaum, Michael and Bryan (Seashols) Poppler, two great grandchildren Eleanor and Cecily Poppler, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Merrill Seelig. The family would like to thank Debbie Muller, RN, Toni Morton, Lisa Johnson, and the caring staff at EJGH. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Shir Chadash Synagogue, 3737 West Esplanade Avenue with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM. Rabbi David Cohen-Henriquez will officiate. Interment will follow in Tikvat Shalom Cemetery (in Jefferson Memorial Gardens), St. Rose, Louisiana. Kindly omit flowers. Memorials are suggested to Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, Jewish Children's Regional Services or the charity of your choice.
