Ralph Anthony Richoux was born on April 16, 1935 in Montz, Louisiana. He entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2020. Ralph is survived by two sons and one daughter, Ralph A. Richoux Jr., and his wife Karen Vicknair, Renée Keiser and her husband Mark, and Matt Richoux and his wife Allison Fitkin; daughter-in-law, Stacy Hebert Richoux; and sister-in-law, Vera Hoover Richoux. He was a loving grandfather to Ralph Richoux III (Courtney Ambrosia), Ainsley A. Richoux (Kayla Mouch), Evan C. Richoux, Alexandra J. Keiser, Elise M. Richoux, Katherine A. Richoux, Paul D. Keiser, and Matthew T. Richoux; and great-grandfather to Arya A. Richoux. Preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Millet and Lester Richoux; brother, Lester Richoux Jr.; sister, Lois Culhane; his beloved wife, daughter and son, Marilyn Mayhall Richoux, Armande Elizabeth Richoux, and Gregory Christopher Richoux.
A life-long LSU fan, Ralph loved sports. He was an outstanding and talented athlete. He developed a love for baseball at a young age when he played at the Shell Refinery. He later played basketball and baseball at Destrehan High School where he was also the class salutatorian. He graduated from Destrehan High School in 1953. He continued his education at LSU. While at LSU, he walked on to the baseball team as a sophomore, and he played starting catcher for three years. He served in the air national guard and was honorably discharged in 1965. He coached his sons in little league baseball. Ralph also enjoyed Western movies and Jane Austen novels. He cherished spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of his church, St. Charles Borromeo, where he was an usher, a member of the Men of Manresa, and his wife sang in the choir.
Ralph worked for Shell in both Norco, Louisiana and Houston, Texas for 36 years before retiring in 1994.
Ralph’s family extends their deepest gratitude to his devoted and compassionate caregivers at Inspired Living Kenner, Hospice Associates, and Home Instead.
Family and friends are invited to attend Ralph’s funeral services at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road in Destrehan, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Visitation will be between 9:00 and 11:00 AM and will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial and interment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
