Peggy Jane Goff Sapir passed to eternal rest on May 19, 2017 at home surrounded by her family and friends and her faithful puppy dog, Chloe, by her side. A private graveside service was held on May 21 at Hebrew Rest Cemetery #3. Peggy fought a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late H. Glenn Goff and Lacey Jackson Goff. Beloved wife of Judge Eddie L Sapir; mother of John Paul Sapir (Charlotte) and grandmother of Charlotte Carrere Sapir and Edward Duke Sapir; Sister of Patricia Goff Hummel (Tim) and Michael Goff (Jackie). Aunt of Judy Sapir, Debbie Sapir Tuck, Susan Sapir Fields, Nicole Hummel Graham, Sean Hummel, Scott Hummel, Christopher Hummel, Lindsay Hummel, Madison Goff and Patrick Goff. Great aunt of Allan Tuck, Betsy Tuck, Courtney Fields, Casey Norton, Peyton Culbert and Carson Graham. Peggy was devoted to her family whom she loved dearly and will continue to watch over from heaven. She will be remembered by her family and friends for always being considerate, generous, loving, kind and compassionate. Throughout her life, she helped many and asked nothing in return. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Peggy was an active member of the community and volunteered with many organizations in New Orleans. She especially enjoyed spending time with children at the playgrounds and ballparks. She loved playing with the kids and found special joy taking them to the concession stand for their favorite treats. We would like to express our love and appreciation to two of Peggy’s dear friends, Mary Stafford and Kippy Walsh, for their love and devotion when Peggy needed them the most. The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors and nurses who treated Peggy during her illness. We are grateful for their compassion and excellent care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent in Peggy’s name to Children’s Hospital, Office of Development, 200 Henry Clay Ave, New Orleans, LA 70118. Donations will support Children’s Hospital’s ongoing project to provide short-term housing for parents of children being cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
