Patricia Burke Falor passed away on Friday September 10, 2021 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Robert Falor for 46 years. Mother of Sharon Gunn and Barbara Gross (Marc). Daughter of the late William Burke and Gertrude Burke. Sister of the late Rosemary Burke and Dolores Bertel. Grandmother of Robert Gunn Jr. (Ginny), Kelly O'Connor (Tom), and Bryan Gross. Great-Grandmother of Ramie Gunn, Riley Gunn, and Molly O'Connor. Cousin of Sylvia Ryan, Billy Ryan, Stephen Ryan, Nicole and Sean Major. Best friend of many years, Annette Corcoran. Grandfriend of Erin Wales and family and Walker Haase and family.
Patricia was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to the Northshore in 1981.
Patricia volunteered with the Volunteers of America, T.L. Young Auxiliary, and Southeast Louisiana Hospital where she volunteered over 1300 hours. During her tenure, she managed the gift shop, recruited and trained volunteers, and oversaw jewelry sales. Under her management, gift shop sales increased by 300 percent. Profits were used to support the residents through activities and recreational opportunities.
She was a resident of Roquette Lodge in Mandeville from 2001-2016 where she also voluntarily managed jewelry sales for the Resident’s Council. Profits supported resident parties and activities.
She was a resident of Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center from 2016 until her passing.
She touched the lives of others in immeasurable ways and everyone who knew her spoke of her generosity. Helping others was always her first priority and volunteering was as deeply rewarding for her as it was for those she cared for. Despite not being formally trained as a nurse, she was known as the "Florence Nightingale" of the family. She provided nursing care to many family members over the course of their lives.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Services will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 with visitation at 9am followed by a Catholic Mass at 11am and private interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana at www.voasela.org as an honor/memorial gift in Patricia Falor’s name.
