Nathan Neil Shaak

Nathan Neil Shaak died on October 23, 2023 at 96 years of age. He was born on September 10, 1927 in Myerstown, Pennsylvania to the late William Edwin Shaak and Myrtle Arnold Shaak. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Marilyn Kingsmill Shaak; three sons, Clifford Neil Shaak, Dr. George William Shaak (Dr. Charlotte Black Shaak), and Richard Nathan Shaak. He is preceded in death by his son, Nathan Neil Shaak, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Paul William Shaak (Katy Banks Shaak), George Neil Shaak, Kayla Nicole Shaak, Justin Francis Shaak, Nicholas Nathan Shaak, and Adam Michael Shaak.

Nathan graduated from Penn State in 1948 and worked as an industrial engineer in clothing manufacturing at J.H. Bonck Company and J.H. Rutter-Rex Manufacturing Company until his retirement in 1998. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. Nathan was a football fan and supported LSU, the Saints, and his alma mater, Penn State. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and tinkering with cars and anything mechanical.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral mass on Monday, October 30, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road 70005. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the mass at 11:30 a.m. The interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
