Obituary of Milton  “Diddy” Julian Loeb
Milton “Diddy” Julian Loeb passed away on Friday, August 4th, 2023. He was born on June 20th, 1929 son of Eva Karnofsky Loeb and Julian Julius Loeb in New Orleans, La. He attended Henry W. Allen grammar school in New Orleans and high school at Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, MS. He graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and then served in the United Sates Navy for 4 years. He was in the roofing business owning National Roofing and Siding Company. Milton was a licensed pilot and loved flying small aircraft locally and as far as California. He was a devoted Saints fan and was a season ticket holder from the very first Saints season and he enjoyed going to the games with his wife and very dear friends until a few years ago. He loved playing handball at the New Orleans Athletic Club and enjoyed taking very long walks around the city. Preceded him in death was his wife of 63 years, Sharon Offner Loeb, and his daughters, Dr. Ellen Loeb Gandle and Jesslyn Shilling and his sister, Margie Loeb Gottsegen. He leaves behind his grandchildren Alexandra Gandle Fisher (Jeff Fisher) and Peter Gandle, his son-in-law Dr. Bruce Gandle and Paul Schilling, his sisters Honoré Loeb Allen, Janeth Loeb Cotlar and Marilynn Loeb Oelsner (Tom), and his niece Lauren Oelsner Greenberg whose devotion and compassion in the last years provided him with a better quality of life. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends. His family wishes to acknowledge the outstanding care given by Dr. Charles C. Smith and his staff. Services will take place on Monday August 7, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM followed by a service at 10:00AM Rabbi Todd Silverman, officiating. A private family burial will follow at Hebrew Rest Cemetery III. In lieu of flowers please donate to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Jewish Children Regional Services or your favorite charity.
