Michael James Rodgers, a retired electronics engineering technician with IBM for approximately eighteen years, and in the cross-country shipping transport industry for approximately twenty years, died Friday at Lafreniere Home in Metairie, LA. He was 71. Mr. Rodgers was born in New Orleans, LA., and lived in the greater New Orleans area for his entire life. Michael graduated from Holy Cross High School. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard before attending Delgado Community College. Michael received his associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at Delgado before joining IBM as an electronics engineering technician. He achieved the Eagle Scout Award in the Boy Scouts of America in 1966, while a member of Post 64 affiliated with St. Andrew the Apostle School in Algiers, LA. His hobbies included hiking, traveling, and exploring the outdoors. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Michael Rodgers, Jr., Mathilda Ducos Rodgers, and his brother, William John Rodgers. Survivors include four sisters, Maureen Clifford, Mary Anne Rodgers, Carolyn Melcher, and Sharon Yadven; two surviving brothers, John Patrick Rodgers, and Thomas Michael Rodgers III; and eight nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home followed by a graveside service in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery at noon, St. Raphael Corridor.
