Merlyn John Diaz

Merlyn John “M.J.” Diaz was called to his heavenly reward on Monday, June 20, 2011, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary L. Diaz, and his parents, Octavia H. and Oneil A. Diaz. M.J. is survived by his sons, John M. (Daria), David A. (Joan), and Charles F. Diaz, and his granddaughter, Louise M. Diaz. M.J. was a New Orleans native and a graduate of St. Aloysius High School Class of 1944. He served as sergeant in the Louisiana National Guard and a reservist in the U.S. Army.

Visitation is at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 835 Melody Drive, Metairie, LA, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Interment is at St. Roch Cemetery #2. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ozanam Inn, 843 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA 70130, or Masses at St. Angela Merici Church, are preferred.
