Mary Foster Kock passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Mary Kock Dickson (Brooke) of Charlotte, NC, Cameron Kock Mayer (Charles) and E. James Kock, III (Marguerite) of New Orleans, LA, and Virginia Stewart Kock of Richmond, VA., as well as her grandchildren, Katherine D. Crockett, Sallie D. Caddell (Matt), Mary D. Gorman (Ryan), Anne S. Kock, and E. James Kock, IV, and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edouard James Kock, Jr.; her parents, Richard Rushton Foster and Katherine Simmons Foster; and her sister, Katherine Foster Duncan.
Mary was a 1947 graduate of the Louise S. McGehee School. She attended Newcomb College, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She reigned as the Queen of the 1950 Momus Ball.
Mary served as President of the Louise S. McGehee School Parent's League and was a longtime supporter and volunteer at the school. She was also the President of the Board of the Protestant Babies Home (now Raintree Children's Services). She was a board member of the Milne Home and was a member of the Junior League of New Orleans and Junior League Garden Club. Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly to London and Scotland, and spending time with her Skye Terriers.
A Funeral Mass officiated by Rev. Patrick Carr will be held at 12 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until Mass time. She will be laid to rest in Metairie Cemetery immediately following Mass.
