Marvin George Silver (Paw-Paw) passed away on March 8, 2022 at the age of 86. Son of the late Manuel Joseph Silver, Sr. and Lucille Wichterich Silver. Beloved husband of Louise Tassin Silver for the past 65 years. Loving father of Rhonda Maurer (Russell), Danielle Lemoine (Lawrence), David George Silver (Lisa), and Renee Louise Silver. He is also survived by six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Manuel Joseph Silver, Jr. (Jewell) and Betty Silver Lacoste. He is additionally survived by many nieces and nephews.
A native of New Orleans and resident of Metairie, LA for the last 50 years, he retired from the United States Postal Service with 30 years of service on the Board of Directors for the Post Office Employees Credit Union. He enjoyed traveling in both the United States and abroad. He was a member of AARP and NARFE, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11 AM. Friends may visit at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Mass dedications or that donations in his memory may be made to “We Care for Special People, Inc.” at P.O. Box 113477 Metairie, LA 70011-3477.
