Lorraine W. Ryan

Lorraine Worley Ryan passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2021 with her daughters by her side. She was born February 27, 1920 to the late Inez Laura Rodriguez and Roy Otho Worley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Henry Ryan and her sons-in-law, Desire Schmit Jr. and Ernest Peter Mayorga and great grandson, Matthew James Schmit.

Lorraine, affectionately known as “Rainy”, was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family. After her husband’s retirement, she and Jimmy traveled the world visiting many countries. She was blessed with good health and a sharp mind throughout her 101 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ryan Schmit and Kathleen Ryan Mayorga, grandsons, Desire Schmit III (Brandy) and David Bryan Schmit (Christine), great grandchildren, Lexis Elizabeth Schmit Herman (Glenn), Allison Marlo and Zoe Jane Schmit, Kilian Bryan and Ryan David Schmit, and Maxwell Morovich (Lauren), and great-great grandchildren Henry and Olivia Herman.

The family would like to thank Sarah Noel for her kindness, companionship and devotion, and Kristy Rascoe, RN (Apex Home Health) for her friendship and care during this past year.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11AM in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will be private at a later date.
