Laurie is survived by her loving husband, Ricky, and their devoted children and spouses, PJ and Anna Rosenberg, Frannie and Charles Buchtel, as well her four grandchildren whom she cherished, Maia and Jasper Rosenberg, Audrey and Clark Buchtel. Laurie’s brother, Marc Duber, and his wife, Nancy, along with their children, Brant (Peri), Jonathan (Dana), David (Lily) and his grandchildren Charlotte, Ashton, Brooks and Reid, who were all a very important part of her life.
Laurie was born in Shaker Heights, OH. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh, where she met Ricky during her first week.
Laurie began her career as a teacher in Little Rock, Arkansas, followed by a move to New Orleans, where she taught Lower and Middle School, as well as Science, at both St. Catherine of Siena and Isidore Newman School. She then worked in the family business, Rosenberg Furniture, with Ricky, for many years. After some time away from teaching she recognized the need for a tutoring company that specialized in one-on-one tutoring. As a result, Test Masters was created with Ricky fifteen years ago. Laurie believed that kindness was the way to reach all students, no matter their needs, which served as the core belief of their business.
Laurie’s dear friends, from Cleveland to New Orleans, were all so important to her. Their extreme dedication and care gave her so much joy and strength.
She was a former president of Touro Synagogue Sisterhood, a lifelong member of Hadassah and active in Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans. She took pride in sharing her Jewish traditions with her family.
Laurie will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness and joyful spirit that she shared with all who knew her. She never met a stranger and made a lasting impression with almost every person she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her beloved Mother and Father, Frances Newman Duber and Alvin Lee Duber.
