Karen Marie Doyle, beloved wife, mother, and sister, passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 68. Karen was born on February 14, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Howard G. Marrero and Florence Lamm Marrero. She grew up in a loving family and was the eldest of three siblings.
Karen married the love of her life, William A. Doyle, and they had two beautiful children, Jason W. Doyle and Jamie M. Doyle. Karen was a devoted wife and mother, and her family was always her top priority. Karen is survived by her three loving and devoted animal companions, Buffy, Tippy, and BayBay
In addition to her husband and children, Karen is survived by her two brothers, Jerry Marrero and Gary Marrero. Karen was a loving sister, and she cherished the time she spent with her siblings and their family. Special acknowledgments to her nephew Joshua Hopkins who held a special place in her heart, and additional recognition to her Aunts, Marie Lamm Hopkins and Vita Lamm English whom she loved dearly.
Karen was a nurse for 44 years at East Jefferson General Hospital and St. Jude Medical Center specializing in Labor and Delivery and Care Management. In the year 2000, Karen was chosen by her peers to be distinguished as one of the “Great 100 Nurses.” She was certified in inpatient obstetrics, charge nurse, and was instrumental in the conversion to the electronic medical record. Committed to patient care, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Karen was a kind and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, compassion, and generosity touched the lives of so many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A funeral service will be held at Lake Lawn Funeral Home in New Orleans, on May 17, 2023, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. and services commencing at 2:00 pm. Karen will be laid to rest at Lake Lawn Park in New Orleans, LA, alongside her parents.
A repast will be held after services at the George & Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center at 1225 N. Rampart St, New Orleans LA from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
