Joy W. Asevedo

Joy Wehrmann Asevedo passed away peacefully on April 4, 2018 with family by her side at the age of 82. Joy was the beloved wife of the late Marcel Asevedo. She was born to the late Pauline Wehrmann and Adolf Wehrmann. She is also preceded in death by her brother Adolf Wehrmann, Jr. and her cousin Esther Schober Smith, whom she considered to be a “sister”. Mother of Kathy Howe (the late Dennis Howe), Dianne Asevedo, Michael Asevedo (Heather) and Marcel Asevedo, Jr. (Moira). Grandmother of Jason, Denny, Chad, Vanessa, Lindsay, Courtney, Logan and Natalie. Great Grandmother of Luke, Liam, Reghan, Rachel, Jaxon, Tyler, Remey, Thea and Kollins. Joy was born on January 6, 1936 in New Orleans. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends. Our “Joy to the World” loved life, baking and watching her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
