I only had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Taylor once and that many years ago. I know how dear she was to you, Charles, and Paige and Storey as well as Jackie. May she be united with her husband and Jackie in heaven. God Bless all of you and especially her-today.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Taylor last year, but it seems like forever ago. I will miss our Saturday trips to the grocery store and lunch at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood. She was such a sweet, amusing and lovely lady. I can still hear her asking "Honey are you listening?". I will truly miss her. God bless

She will be missed.  She was a joy to talk to ever since we moved into the neighborhood about 12 years ago. She liked the boys remembered them throughout the year and they would bring here things and visit and talk with her also though out the year.

Josephine Taylor was one of the most remarkable, active, mentally sharp centenarians I have been privileged to know.  She loved to dress, shop, talk with others, and socialize (clubs and cards and parties) with her many friends.  She had a sharp wit, a cute way about her, a sharp mind that never missed anything, no matter how subtle, and a memory that never failed; she was truly amazing.  She maintained her independence until recently, managing her household and finances.  She was physically strong and, surprisingly, until a year or so ago only took one or two medications; she attributed this to always eating well and having a diet that included lots of vegetables.  She was a giving-of-herself woman who was there for others in need in a heartbeat.  During the many years I have known her, there never could have been a better sister to her two sisters, Virgie and Margaret. She worried about them, transported them to doctors' appointments and the grocery, prepared their meals, and housed them after Katrina at a time when she was in her nineties and could have used assistance herself (it was exhausting for her and it saddened her that she could not physically do more),  and she made sure that those who offered her a way out of N.O. during hurricanes also included her sisters.  Josie had enormous emotional strength; few women could have weathered as well as she did the loss of a husband and a few years later the loss of an only daughter.  During family losses and during the greatest disappointments and frustrations in her later life, she felt the pain deeply, but she gathered the strength to persevere; centenarians get to be centenarians for a reason.  Josie was so deeply grateful to her neighbors, especially the Escudier's and Comeaux's  for their generosity and loving care of her and all the delicious meals she enjoyed, as well as another neighbor, Donna, who got her to safety during Katrina. She was appreciative of all the friends who got her out and about after she stopped driving two years ago.  I last saw Josie when I visited New Orleans during Jazz Fest last year and took her to lunch; she looked  wonderful!  Ours was mostly a long-distance phone friendship; she was there for me during difficult parts of my life and, similarly, I for her.  I already miss the ringing phoneâ€¦.  But I will always remember our sharing and all the life lessons she taught.

I will miss the phone calls that I received almost everyday for years and years! Every time we talked she always wondered what she was going to eat that day!!  She ate 3 meals a day and ice cream at night. I was amazed at how she was healthier than all of us who were younger than her. She was one of my dearest friends. I will miss her very much. Rest in Peace.

I will miss her more than I can say. Even today I found myself saying I need to go see her.  But, I know she is in a far better place now.  My sympathies Storey and Paige.  May you know the comfort of the Father and His peace that surpasses all understanding.
