He was born in Tunis, Tunisia on July 6, 1923. Growing up in Tunisia at an early age he had to choose an occupation, he went on to become a master tailor. During WWII he was drafted into the Italian Army. Later captured as a prisoner of war he joined the Italian Service Unit as part of the U.S. Army stationed at Jackson Barracks, New Orleans, Louisiana. Throughout his life he continued as a tailor and was an Executive Forman Haspel Brothers Men's Suits New Orleans, Louisiana and Tylertown, Mississippi. John was a founding parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and served as an Usher for many years. He was also a member of Jefferson Parish Council on Aging. John loved to travel, dance, playing Wii Internet Bowling, watching the Saints and listening to books on tape.
John is preceded in death by Vergie Battaglia Di Stefano after 28 years of marriage and Blanche K. Di Stefano after 25 years of marriage; stepdaughter Michele L. Sellers and stepson Adrian Lahare.
He is survived by daughter Maria D. Luce; sons Ronald J. DiStefano (Jacquelyn) and Dino S. Di Stefano (Juliet); stepdaughter Rozanne L. Bailey; grandchildren Eric Luce, Kerri L. Lorenz (Mark), Vergie D. Tauceda (Daniel), Kathryn D. Seibert (Derek), Diana D. Cortello (Dante), Carley D. Carroll (Christian), Adam E. Kuehne (Kristy), Steven M. Pretlove (Barbara), Eric S. Pretlove (Tristen), Jennifer L. Glynn (Chase), Danielle L. Pearse (Carlos); sixteen greatgrandchildren and one greatgrandchild to be.

Visitation at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 4317 Richland Ave., Metairie, Louisiana 70002 on Friday, December 9, 2022, beginning at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass, celebrated by Very Rev. Luis F. Rodriguez, V.F. at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
