My sincerest sympathy to Debbie, Jeffrey and Stephanie at the loss of your dear husband, dad and friend.  John was always so proud of each of you and spoke fondly about you to me when ever I would see him.  On my yearly visit to Julie, your dad would always make it a point to come visit me, invite me to your house or go out for dinner with the family.  John  was always a happy, sincere man who must have loved God very much since he loved & helped God's people.  We have a great example to emulate.

It was such an honor to know John.  When I moved from Atlanta to Metairie, he welcomed me & set me up in one of his apartments.  His generosity, kindness and compassion will always be in my thoughts. I'm so very very sorry to hear about John.  He was truly a wonderful man that i spoke of often. I've lived in one of his apartments for 8 years now, and he's always been a great landlord and friend. I will always remember him in his pink fuzzy Mardi Gras hat with a twinkle in his eye! I will miss his stories he always had for me when I ran into him. You left us to soon but with many happy memories.  You were always willing to help where help was needed.  When daddy died in 1961, you stepped up and became the "bread winner."  When our neighborhood became dangerous, you found a home for us in Lakeview.  You lived with mother and I until you met your true love Debbie.  You became the father of two loving children, Jeff and Stephanie.  When Katrina struck, you again stepped up and re-built our homes. You were truly a wonderful brother.

My deepest sympathy for your heartbreaking loss. Even though I am just one of his tenants, his sudden passing is such a shock. I keep expecting to see him in his truck when I come out of my front door and I will always remember him in his crazy hat and the twinkle in his eyes when he smiled! I now reside in Florida, but lived on Carrollton for a few years, in one of John’s apartments. I do remember meeting Deborah, Jeffrey, and Stephanie, a few years ago. Since my move (after the hurricane), my brother started renting from Mr. John. I spoke to Mr. John every time I would come in town, but also I spoke to him over the phone this past February. He always promised me a place if I ever decided to move back. He was truly one of the nicest and most honest men I have ever came across in my life. My condolences...
