Jim Kennedy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved James S. Kennedy Jr. who departed this world on July 30, 2023. He was 80. He was born on June 15, 1943 in Tallahassee, Florida, to Ellen Virginia Reid Kennedy Tricou, a registered nurse and James S. Kennedy, Sr., an army pilot.

Growing up in New Orleans, he graduated from Warren Easton High School, he attended LSU and UNO, served in the National Guard and worked as a technician, retiring from Avaya. Remembered most for his loyalty, humor and personality, he was also a private pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna Dakota. His other interests included duck hunting, boating, fishing, tennis and watching LSU.

He is survived by his loving wife Beverly Orr Kennedy of 58 years, two children, David H. Kennedy and Michael Kennedy, three grandchildren, Henry Kennedy, Bria Kennedy, Reid Kennedy, two daughters in law, Tracy Kennedy and Sarah Kennedy. He was predeceased by his son, James III.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
