Jean François de Villeneuve Allain passed away on January 29th, 2024. A resident of Plymouth, MA, he was born on November 5th, 1948 in Casablanca, Morocco to Mathé Allain and the late Alexander P. Allain. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn M. Allain; son, Alexander Allain; brother, Kevin Allain; sister, Edmée Allain; niece, Sélène (Mitch) Marcello; and nephew, Aubrey Ladmirault. He is preceded in death by his brother, Paul Louis Allain; niece, Beverly Silberling; and nephew, Hayden Ladmirault.
A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Jeanerette, Louisiana, Tulane University and Tulane Law School, he lived in New Orleans and practiced law for many years, working at Chaffe McCall before starting his own firm and later moving to in-house counsel. He was an avid fan of new technology, introducing computers to his law office ahead of their general adoption and always staying up to date on the latest technologies that were available.
He was an ardent fan of the Houston Astros, the Tulane Green Wave, and the New Orleans Saints, which he watched on Sundays while exchanging “Who dat!” texts with his family and friends. He loved to teach and play chess, making many friends both in person and online from playing the game. He enjoyed organizing breakfast gatherings and fishing trips with his friends. He was an excellent chef, wowing visitors to his home with his shrimp boils, garlic bread, and homemade fudge. He was a devoted father and husband.
He loved to travel, go for walks, and solve challenging jigsaw puzzles. He was a voracious reader of many genres ranging from scholarly works to mystery books by Rex Stout and Agatha Christie. He loved Christmas and decorated a beautiful Angel Tree every year. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in New Orleans and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Plymouth. He loved socializing with friends and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by many.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the mass at 1:00 p.m.
