On Monday, July 12, 2021 at 3:00PM, James Hollis Jones was summoned by God to take his eternal rest. James was born on January 26, 1961 to the late Jasper Jones and Minnie M. Jones. He was a native of New Orleans. At the time of his death, he resided in Homer, Louisiana. He was baptized at an early age at Gaza Missionary Baptist Church by the late Reverend Willie Bridges.
James attended school in the Orleans Parish School District. He was a former employee of Lamar’s Chicken. He loved to cook.
James leaves to cherish his memories four sisters; Delores A. Jones, Wilhelmina Jones, Betty J. Jones (Darren), and Nanita L. Jones; two brothers, Calvin Jones of Mesquite, Texas and Cedric R. Jones (Nancy) of Natchitoches, Louisiana; one uncle, Billy R. Bridges; one aunt, Mary Coates of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Jones; mother, Minnie M. Jones; sister, Rosemary Jones; grandparents, Willie and Cora Lee Bridges; uncles, Willie, Eddie, and Arthur Bridges; aunts, Addie Cooley, Francis Wade, Rosalie True, Stella McDonald, Beatrice Gardener, Elnora Bridges, Hertha Hilton, and Virgia Lee Bridges; and his nephew, Shawn E. Jones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM.
