James (Jim) B, Perez passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 70 years. He was born in Kingsburg, California on March 21, 1943 to Caroline and Joseph Perez. He graduated from Fresno State University and served in the U. S. Army as an airborne ranger between 1966 and 1975. He founded Bayou State Security Services, Inc., which provided detective, guard and armored car services for the greater New Orleans metropolitan area in 1975. Bayou State employed between 100 and 250 security guards. Mr. Perez is survived by his wife, Sylvia Davis; his mother, Caroline Perez, son, Christopher Perez, daughter-in-law, Michele, and granddaughter, Ella Caroline; brothers, Joseph Perez, Jr., and wife Rosemary, Stephen Perez, and sisters, Barbara White and husband Jack, and Elizabeth Johnson and husband Harmon; along with five nieces and two nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Mass to follow at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lustgarten Foundation for research of pancreatic cancer would be appreciated.
