James Joseph Arroyo, Jr.

James Joseph Arroyo, Jr. passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the age of 90. Son of the late Dr. James Joseph and Denise Castell Arroyo. Beloved husband for 67 years to the late Joycelyn Munz Arroyo. Loving father of Cynthia A. Rucker, Christine A. Stackhouse, Mary A. Brown, Patti A. Benoit, James J. Arroyo III, David G. Arroyo, and the late Denise M. Arroyo. Brother of Joyce Bulliard and the late Marie Louise Ryan and Belle Marie Waters. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was a proud World War II United States Navy Veteran, and a self-made, resourceful entrepreneur who was instrumental in the success of several local businesses. But most of all, he was a loving, caring husband to the love of his life and a loving, caring, and very generous father to his 7 children. Mr. Arroyo's family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the kind care he received by the staff of St. Rose Fresenius Dialysis Center. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Special School.
