Beloved father of Leslie Calongne, Joel Calongne (Joy), and Chris Calongne (Lisa), and the late Julie Calongne (Marty).

Grandfather of Brent (Amy), Bridget, Michael, and Kayla Calongne, and Kimberly Calongne Tara (Chance).

Step grandfather of Stephen and Kelly Lewis and Kristen Hayes (Bryan).

Great grandfather of Molly Jane, Jacob, and Hunter.

Son of the late George and Gertrude Calongne.

Brother of Gwendolyn C. Gilthorpe Weidig (the late Bill, the late Walter), Wanda Henry (the late R.J.), Gaynell C. Leonard (Sidney), and Georgette C. Sloan (Terry), and the late Geraldine C. Feugas (the late Leon), George C. Calongne, Jr. (Gladys), Sr. Mary Bonaventure Calongne, O.P. (nee Germaine Calongne).

Brother-in-law of Milton L. “Jack” Brehm, Jr. and the late Alice Brehm Saucier (the late James).

Gayle enjoyed a lifelong career in the transportation industry as an owner of Calongne Drayage & Storage and Sexton Transfer of Baton Rouge. He was also the Co-Captain of the Krewe of Crescent City until his retirement in the 90s. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Barbara and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Interment will be held at Lake Lawn Park.

In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
