Steven Seymour "Buddy" Weaver passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Weaver and two grandchildren, Max Ferran, his wife Megan, and their children Madeline, Max, and Marigny, and Jeanne Ferran and her sons Ben and Breton Burgin. He is also survived by his stepson Terry (Kim), and their son Terrance; and his nieces Karen Daigle, Tracey Kennedy, Jeanne Antoine, Cheryl Bourgeois, and Charlene Guilbeau. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Helen; his son Steven; grandson, Nicholas Ferran, and his sister, Vera Daigle. Steven was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 19, 1925 to Horatio Seymour Weaver Jr. and Mary Theresa Berger. He grew up in Mid-City and lived in Lakeview for most of his life. His family owned and operated Weaver's grocery on St. Patrick Street. During World War II, Steven paused his high school education at Samuel Peters so he could build airplanes at Consolidated Building. He graduated in 1946. He enjoyed spending time with friends on the lakefront and trips to the Northshore. He also served as a Quartermaster for the Army. On October 17, 1954, he married Helen Brewer, the woman he loved and cherished for the rest of his life. He and Helen had two children, Stephanie Mary Weaver and Steven Seymour Weaver. When Steve and Helen were not operating Weaver's Po-boys on Navarre Avenue, which they ran for over 50 years, they enjoyed working in their expansive garden, traveling around the world, and going downtown to dance. Steven also enjoyed watching Saints and LSU football games from the comfort of his reclining chair. The family would like to thank all of the people who contributed to the care of Steve and Helen throughout the recent years. While we on earth will miss his gentle spirit, we are comforted in knowing that he is with his beloved wife. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, Louisiana on Monday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit lakelawnmetairie.com.
