Ellen Rita Manthey Turner

August 21, 1922 – February 17, 2013

Ellen Rita Manthey Turner passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013, after a brief illness.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph William Turner. Preceded in death by her siblings Francis L. Manthey Jr., Marie M. Rooney and Dolores M. Lapotaire. Mother of Sharon Rouquette, Maureen Masson, Jeanne Gunn, Kevin J. Turner, and Brian J. Turner. Grandmother of Robert J. Rouquette, Louise Rouquette, Cameron Turner, Egan Turner, Ian Gunn and Shannon Gunn. Survived by her sister Louise M. Hoselle.

Age 90 years. A native of New Orleans, she resided in Kenner for 15 years, and was a resident of Covington for the last 3 years. She was a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and received a Master of Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. Ellen Turner was a retired Orleans Parish school teacher who taught business subjects at John McDonough High School and retired from John F. Kennedy High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street in New Orleans, on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM. Visitation at 9:30 AM until Mass time. Interment in Lake Lawn Cemetery, Metairie, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer Masses or donations to any St. Vincent de Paul Society.
