Elizabeth "Betty" Bouvier DeGrusha

She was born November 20, 1928, and she died on April 24, 2016. Daughter of the late Sampson F. Bouvier and Rita Chauvin Bouvier. Sister of Marianne Hinkley Halpern. Wife of the late Zannie “Johnny” DeGrusha, Sr., and Joseph Charles Higgins, II. Mother of Dennis DeGrusha (Jackie), the late Johnny DeGrusha, Jr. (Josie), and Doyle DeGrusha (Eve). Stepmother to Joseph Charles Higgins, III, and Debby Higgins Brown. Grandmother to Lisa Cambre, Stacie Owens, Lori Beth Cancienne, Kristopher DeGrusha, and Darrian DeGrusha. Step-grandmother of Charles A. Brown, Joseph Higgins, IV, and Dean Higgins. Beloved by 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Owner of Johnny’s PoBoy Restaurant. In her early years, she was a dance instructor for Hinkley School of Dance and part owner in a catering business, VinJon. She belonged to Women’s Aglow since 1985, was a member of the Crusaders Garden Guild since 1959, President three times and served on various committees, was a member of Lakeshore Homemakers Club since 1959, President three times and served on various committees, was a member of the Bonnabel Bonco Club over 40 years, and was a member of Ladies of the Marine Corps Auxiliary. Thank you to the women that picked her up for church every Sunday, for her sitters and nurses, and for Cannon Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 12:00 noon, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
