Elaine Rockel "Mammie" Scariano

Elaine Rockel “Mammie” Scariano passed away on August 28, 2022 at the age of 78. She was born on October 19, 1943 in New Orleans and attended Mercy Academy and Holy Name of Jesus Grammar School. She was formerly employed by South Central Bell and Godchaux’s Department Store, but for most of her life, she was a devoted homemaker.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Daniel John Rockel and Mae Boudreaux Rockel; her father-in-law, Robert R. Scariano, Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Emelda Sutter Scariano.

She is survived by; her beloved husband of nearly 55 years, Robert R. Scariano, Jr.; her daughter, Lisa S. Cain (Benjamin P. Cain); her son, Craig Scariano (Nicole Scariano); her sister, Meryl R. Roussel (Carroll Roussel); her grandchildren, Alyssa Cain, Grant Cain, Abby Scariano, and Piper Scariano; and several of her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Fidelis Care on Kent Avenue, especially Dr. Archie Melcher for all their care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA, on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 1:00PM. Visitation begins at 11:00AM, and Interment will follow the mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
