Elaine Foley Alexander was born in New Orleans on October 13, 1925, the daughter of Raymond and Josephine Quaglino Foley. She attended Redemptorist High School, where she was a star basketball player. Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, she sang on the radio in New Orleans in the 1930s and 40s. In later years she sang in the choir of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in River Ridge. As a military wife, Elaine lived in various cities, including Vicksburg, Peoria, St. Louis, and San Diego, before returning to New Orleans in 1962 and retiring to Pass Christian with her husband in 1986.
Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Wallace J. Alexander; and her brothers Philip and Raymond Foley. She is survived by her two children, Alexis Alexander Griener and Gregory Alexander.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00AM. The interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
