Edward Joseph Mozier died on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the age of 96. He was the son of the late Joseph and Viola Mozier; beloved husband for 63 years of the late Virginia Katherine Richards Mozier; loving father of Edward J. Mozier, Jr. "Rusty"; grandfather of Marilyn Katherine Mozier "Katie" and the late Michael Ryan Mozier; and brother of Jean Figueroa (José), and the late Earl, Vivian, and Violet. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Edward was born and raised in New Orleans. He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and Tulane University, where he received a BS in Business. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, where he was stationed in the Pacific.
Edward spent his career practicing accounting, including work with Boeing at Michoud during the height of the NASA Space Program. He contributed to an historical account of Boeing's achievements, a copy of which can be found at the Smithsonian.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and National Society of Public Accountants. In his earlier years, he was an avid sports fan, including playing tennis and founding a bowling league. He also loved going to Saints games with his son. Then, in later years, he found joy in writing short stories for his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
