Edward Kemper Sublette passed away surrounded by his family on Monday morning, June 3, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Jean M. Sublette for over 65 years. Loving father of Jeanne Sublette Keene (Rick), Suzanne Sublette Coco (Richard), Brian Kemper Sublette (Susan), and the late Michael Kemper Sublette. Grandfather of Nicholas Edward Reggio (Darci), Jennifer S. Reggio, Joshua C. Coco (Isadora), Jeannette Mills (Brandon), Sean Coco (Lexie), Madison Sublette, Sydney Sublette, and Stuart Kemper Sublette. Great-grandfather of Kayli, Aubri, and Holli Reggio, Liam Reggio, Noah, Andrew, Elijah, Katy, and Abby Mills, and Michael Coco. Son of the late Marcus Aurelius and Adlia Kemper Sublette. Brother of the late Mary Sublette Huggett and Yvonne Sublette McDonald. Also survived by his nieces and nephews. Kemper was a native of New Orleans and has been a resident of Metairie for 56 years. For grammar school, he attended St. Paul’s in Covington and was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School class of 1956. He attended Tulane University. He served in the Louisiana Air National Guard for 8 years. After a successful career in the insurance industry, he retired in 1997 as the New Orleans Branch Manager of Reliance Insurance. During his tenure he was the underwriter for the Louisiana Superdome. After retirement, he was able to devote time to true passion: history. He became a longtime member of Friends of the Cabildo and served as the president of Memorial Hall Foundation. Kemper and Jean were longtime and faithful parishioners of St. Angela Merici Parish, where he was an usher and an active participant in That Man is You. He was an annual participant at Manresa where he was able to further express his faith. He was quick-witted and enjoyed the opportunity to travel to new places, especially trips to the beach. He cherished every opportunity to bring together his family and his presence was always known. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, on Saturday, June 8th at 12:00 noon.
