Edward J. Breaux Sr. (E.J.) age 90 departed this life on June 24, 2023. He leaves behind his loving wife, of 69 years, Evelyn Giordano Breaux; three children, Jean Ann B. Gravois (Clyde), Edward J. Breaux Jr., and Andrew C. Breaux (Mary Brandon); and four grandsons (who affectionately called him 'Pere'), Justin B. Gravois, Aidan I. Breaux (Coni Gajardo), Graydon C. Breaux and Matthew H. Breaux; and one brother, Clifton A. Breaux Jr.; along with numerous godchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. E.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton A. Breaux Sr. and E. Edwardeen (Deen) Breaux; and his twin brother John S. Breaux Sr.
E.J. was graduated from St. Aloysius High, John McCrady Art School and attended Tulane University. He served in the Louisiana National Guard and joined the U. S. Army where he served honorably in the Far East during the Korean conflict.
In 1955 he was employed with the telephone company (Southern Bell) and retired in 1991 as Sales Manager (BellSouth). He also served as President of the Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel High School PTA, Chairman of the Rummel Foundation, President of the Rummel Oldtimers, Board member and volunteer worker for Rummel High athletic events.
At the time of his death he was a member of the Harahan Coffee Club and the American Legion Post 397 in Harahan. He was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Metairie and faithfully attended yearly Manresa retreats.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, June 29, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and end before Mass at 12 PM. Interment will be in All Saints Mausoleum.
Thank God Almighty he was a Raider!
